Ospreys are famous for building large, prominent stick nests at the tops of trees, utility poles, and man-made platforms. Pairs often mate for life and return to the same nest, adding to the structure over the years. The male collects most of the nest material, which the female arranges to shape the nest bowl. Parents share incubation and chick-rearing duties, continuing to feed the chicks for months after they leave the nest, while they learn to hunt for themselves.
