Hummingbird Triptych

6.5”x12” - Impeyan Pheasant feathers

Female Anna’s hummingbirds build tiny nests of plant fiber and spider silk camouflaged with lichen, moss & bark. They lay two coffee-bean-sized eggs, which they then incubate for about 16 days to hatching. The chicks are raised on a diet of regurgitated nectar and insects. The fledglings leave the nest at about three weeks, and then are dependent on their mother for another week or two while they learn to forage and hunt on their own.
