For decades, the rookery on Lovell Avenue of Bainbridge Island has sheltered successive generations of Great Blue Herons. When the parcel went on the market in 2024, the community rallied to acquire this property, protecting the trees and habitat for future generations of herons, and ensuring that future springs will continue to witness their return to the rookery.
